How to Clear a Suspended Registration

Your vehicle registration was suspended because the California DMV does not have current proof of auto insurance on file.  Please follow the instructions below.

Step One:

Once you have obtained auto insurance, go to this link and perform the insurance inquiry with the California DMV. Follow all the instructions.

Step 2

While on the DMV’s website, pay the reinstatement fee of $14.00 online and submit proof of your current auto insurance:  You may email a scanned copy of your proof of insurance to or mail your proof of insurance and payment to DMV, P.O.Box 997408, Sacramento, CA 95899-7408

Step 3:

It may take up to 10 days for the DMV to process the reinstatement.  You may return then return to and complete your vehicle registration renewal.  You may be asked to provide your proof of auto insurance again.
